Gemma New is featured in SLSO's 'Songs of America,' a project by the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra focusing on connecting the community through music during these challenging times. The project strives to inspire dialogue and celebrate the many voices in music, a bedrock of Stéphane Denève's Music Directorship and the foundation of the SLSO's 2020/2021 classical season. Gemma conducts George Walker's Lyric for Strings, originally titled “Lament,” featuring a nine-piece string ensemble of SLSO musicians. Filmed at downtown’s Soldiers Memorial Military Museum, this solemn musical offering honors military service, veterans, and their families through the lens of the city of St. Louis.
